Meaning of the Beagle
Pet Crest
The Beagle heraldic symbolism
(which depicts the history of the breed) begins at the Crest or top of the representation
that bears the shield of King Henry VIII, with the crown of Elizabeth I at the top. The
traditional English hunting horns finish the base of the of the Crest. In the center
Shield a watercolor head study of the Beagle is portrayed. The Standards on either side of
the shield depict the English historical hunting scene, and the American hunter in the
field. Check the History button for more information.
