The heraldic symbolism of the Dachshund Pet Crest begins at the CREST or top of
the representation, which displays the ancient German Coat-of-Arms, and the castle that
symbolizes the Dachshund’s native Germany. The center SHIELD portrays a watercolor
head study of the true conformation of the breed. The STANDARDS on either side of the
SHIELD depict hunters of the eighteenth century. At the base of the SHIELD rests the
