Meaning
of the Doberman Pet Crest
The CREST or top of the Doberman Pet Crest symbolizes the originating country of
the breed, Germany, with a typical building of the Thueringen countryside. The center
SHIELD portrays ahead study of the Doberman Pinscher. The SUPPORTERS holding the SHIELD
symbolize on the left, the use of the breed at war as the official dog of the United
States Marine Corps. On the right, the qualities of stability, loyalty, and affection are
illuminated through the home scene. At the base of the SHIELD on the GROUND is the police
badge of the St. Louis Police Department, St. Louis, Missouri. It was in St. Louis that
the dogs were first used in police work in the United States. The TITLE and MOTTO complete
