Meaning
of the Labrador Retriever Pet Crest
The CREST or top of the Pet Crest shows the Newfoundland Old Colonial
Badge. The figures thereon are Mercury (the god of trade,) and Britannia (Poetic for
Great Britain) with the fishermen. The MANTLING at either side of the CREST displays
flintlock guns of the 1800 period and powder horns. The SUPPORTERS holding the SHIELD
portray the hunting ability and retrieving skill of the breed. The center SHIELD contains
a composite head study of the Black Labrador Retriever. The GROUND at the base of the
SHIELD shows a Yellow Labrador Retriever with a cock pheasant. The TITLE and
MOTTO
complete the Pet Crest. Check the History button for more information.
