Meaning of the Norwegian Elkhound Pet Crest
The CREST or top of the Pet Crest shows a Viking helmet and seal of Norway.
Mermaids, the Norwegian flag, a Viking ship with the moon, and the Aurora Borealis
(Northern lights) complete the CREST.
The center SHIELD contains a portrait of the Norwegian Elkhound. The MANTLING at
the right of the SHIELD displays Lapland imagery. The MANTLING on the left portrays the
Norwegian fjords, mountains, a church, and the peasant costumes of the period.
At the base of the Crest are shown the Moose, Elk, and Polar Bear.
