The Persian cat should be medium to large,
but with no sacrifice of quality for the sake of mere size; heavy-boned; short-coupled;
cobby; the whole giving the impression of robust power.The
Persian cat's ancestry reaches back to the days of the Crusaders. It is possible to assume
that Europeans brought these magnificent domesticated cats home from their journeys to the
Far East. The first longhaired cats are thought to have been brought from the areas of
Turkey and Persia (Iran) to Europe.
The longhaired cats from Persia differed from their Turkish cousins in
that their heads were broader, with shorter noses and smaller ears. Some feline historians
believe the first Persian cats were introduced in England during the great Crusades.
Persians graced the courts of royalty for centuries. Throughout his long and illustrious
history, the Persian cat exemplifies the oriental and Far Eastern elegance of prestigious
rank.
