Meaning of the GSD Pet Crest

The heraldic symbolism of the German Shepherd Pet Crest begins at the CREST or top of the representation. The castle and forest symbolize Von Stephanitz and its German heritage.

On either side of the SHIELD, the leaves commemorate the innumerable deeds of valor for which the breed is so famous. The SHIELD displays a composite study of the true confirmation of the head.

The STANDARDS on either side of the shield symbolize the contribution of this dog to the needs of man. Check the History button for more information.

She helped us to begin!

Louise Ackerman was well known in GSD circles around the country. She was our first breeder contact when the Pet Crests were just an idea. Louise was our mentor, critic, and supporter during the creation of the first Pet Crest, the German Shepherd Dog. When the Crest was finished, she took us to our first Specialty show. The Crest was an instant success! We are sure she is still raising her beloved breed in heaven. Our grateful thanks to a wonderful woman!
