Meaning of the Siamese Pet Crest
The CREST on top of the Siamese Pet Crest displays the famous five and on-half
ton golden Buddha in Wat Trimitr, Thailand. The MANTLING on either side of the CREST
depicts the white elephants, the symbol of power of the old Thai kings. The Thailand
Ensign is held in the elephant's trunk on the left, and the national merchant Thai flag is
shown on the right. Blue is the national color of Thailand, while the purity, strength,
and devotion of the people is symbolized by the white and red stripes.
The center SHIELD
portrays a composite head study of the breed. The decorative frame hold the SHIELD is
designed in familiar Thai style. At the base of the SHIELD rests the Kroot or Garuda, the
Thai State Emblem. For more than forty years this mythical bird has replaced the
traditional white elephant as the Emblem of State. The SUPPORTERS on either side of the
SHIELD manifest the fascinating beauty of the Southeast Asian country. At the left of the
SHIELD stand a Buddies priest in front of the enormous Phra Pathom Chedi in Nakhon Pathom,
the oldest city in Thailand. It was here where Buddhism was first introduced to the Thai
people. At the right, the ancient Siamese costumed King stands in front of the temple of
the Emerald Buddha in Wat Trimitr.
The GROUND upon
which the SUPPORTERS rest also depicts the mythological female cat guarding
the gold goblet once used by the Great Buddha. The TITLE and MOTTO complete
the Pet Crest. Check the History button for more information.
